Bio

J. Antonio DelCampo, an esteemed attorney and former State Court Judge in DeKalb County, brings a wealth of experience and a track record of success to his practice. Known for his adept handling of complex cases, Tony has presided over high-profile matters, including civil claims stemming from the Brian Nichols courthouse shooting case, intricate medical malpractice suits, and product liability trials with significant verdicts, including one of the largest in the state’s history.

Born in Lima, Peru, Tony immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia in July 1979. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University in 1991 and graduated with a law degree from Georgia State University in 1994, where he also served as an Editor for the GSU Law Review.

On June 10th, 2023, Tony made history as he was installed as the first Hispanic President of the State Bar of Georgia, marking a milestone achievement in his distinguished career. Tony DelCampo served as the Treasurer of the State Bar last year and previously as Secretary.

He has held various leadership positions, including Chairman of the Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants, and is a member of prominent legal associations such as the American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, Georgia Hispanic Bar Association, and DeKalb Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, a Master of the Lamar Inn of Court, and a Board Member of Leadership DeKalb and the Oxford College of Emory University Alumni Board. Tony previously served as a Board Member for the DeKalb County Bar Association, Chairman of the Board for the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO), and as a committee member of the Standing Committee on Drug Courts. He maintains active membership in the Bars of Georgia and South Carolina.

Before serving as a State Court Judge, Tony was recognized as the 2000 Lawyer of the Year by La Vision de Georgia, a local newspaper serving the growing Latino community. He was also named one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s ’40 Under 40′ in 2002, honoring influential Georgians under the age of 40. Tony is a graduate of Leadership DeKalb and Leadership Georgia, and he previously served as President of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). He was elected Vice-President of the Judicial Council of the HNBA in 2002. Following his resignation from the bench in 2011, Tony received Super Lawyer recognition for consecutive years from 2013 to 2016.

Currently, Tony’s practice encompasses a wide range of litigation areas in state and federal courts, with a focus on representing individuals who have suffered injuries due to negligence. His expertise spans personal injury, medical malpractice, trucking accidents, premises liability, and business disputes.

Drawing upon his extensive experience as a State Court Judge, Tony leverages his deep understanding of courtroom dynamics and juror perspectives to deliver optimal results for his clients. He has achieved several multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements in cases involving products liability, negligence, medical malpractice, premises liability, and trucking accidents. Tony has also presented arguments before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court, showcasing his mastery of legal advocacy.
