Attorney Tony DelCampo Making History Once Again in Georgia

|

On June 10th, attorney J. Antonio DelCampo was installed as President of the State Bar of Georgia, making history once again as the first Hispanic to hold this position.

Tony DelCampo stood out as the first Hispanic judge in the history of Georgia, having been appointed by Governor Barnes as Judge in the State Court of DeKalb County. His career is characterized by his experience, commitment, and professional excellence.

Tony’s immigrant story is similar to that of millions of people who have come to this country. His mother emigrated from Lima, Peru, as a single mother and worked tirelessly to provide him and his sisters with a professional education.

Tony DelCampo’s life is a promise that opportunities in this country are real and valuable. In his role as President, he plans to promote inclusion and diversity within the State Bar and the legal profession itself. Additionally, he intends to conduct talks in schools with a high Hispanic population.

“The State Bar is the organization that governs the practice of law in the state of Georgia,” explained attorney DelCampo. “All lawyers in Georgia, over 53,000, must be members of the State Bar. If you want to be a lawyer in the state, you have to be a member of the State Bar,” he added.

The State Bar, with offices in Atlanta, Savannah, and Tifton, was established in 1964 by the Georgia Supreme Court as the successor to the Georgia Bar Association, founded in 1884.  Tony served as President-Elect of the State Bar last year, having previously served as Treasurer and Secretary of the organization.

His career also includes prominent positions in various legal and community associations and foundations.

This appointment is another significant step in Tony DelCampo’s outstanding career, as he continues to set the standard in the legal field and promote the legal profession and public service in Georgia.
